  • February 24, 2008: 60 Minutes, on CBS, airs an investigative report on the Siegelman  situation.
  • February 19, 2008: Siegelman files a final motion for release pending appeal, that replies to and appeals Judge Fuller's January 2nd ruling.
  • February 7, 2008: Attorney General Michael Mukasey was asked about the Siegelman case in a Congressional hearing, but he said that he had not reviewed the situation.
  • January 6, 2008: The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals denied Richard Scrushy bond, pending appeal. The Court specifically agreed with Fuller that Scrushy is a flight risk, and said that he had failed to convincingly prove that he would not flee.
  • January 2, 2008: Judge Fuller replied to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, citing his reasons for denying bond for Siegelman.
  • December 31, 2007: Siegelman's attorneys cite the transcript delay as an additional reason why Siegelman should be released from prison, pending an appeal.
  • December 30, 2007: Prosecution witness Lanny Young is released from prison.
  • December 3, 2007: Scrushy's attorneys filed a motion citing the transcript delay as an additional reason why Scrushy should be released pending appeal.
  • November 11, 2007: The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals directed Judge Fuller to explain why he denied bond to Don Siegelman.
  • November 5, 2007: It is revealed that the appeals of Siegelman and Scrushy are delayed because the final transcript of the trial has not been completed. The delay was caused by the death of the court reporter.
  • October 9, 2007: Time Magazine hits the newsstands with a story about the investigation and prosecution of Siegelman, including new revelations about the allegations of Jill Simpson.
  • October 5, 2007: Acting US Attorney Louis Franklin issues another press release defending the District and expressing indignation about criticism.
  • October 4, 2007: Judge Fuller wrote an Order in response to the 11th Circuit's request. The order said that although Fuller gave the merits of the issues "due consideration" but he did not write or elaborate upon those reasons.
  • September 27, 2007: The 11th Circuit Appellate Court issued an order pertaining to Siegelman's motion for release pending appeal, remanding it back to the District Court to have Judge Fuller give reasons why Siegelman was not released pending appeal.
  • September 21, 2007: The prosecution's star witness, Nick Bailey, reports to prison, in Atlanta.
  • September 17, 2007: Scrushy files his Response to the Government's Objections to his motion for release while the trial is on appeal. This marks the last filing in the motions-for-release cycle.
  • September 14, 2007: Jill Simpson testifies to Congress about a connection between the Riley campaign, Karl Rove and the Siegelman prosecution.
  • August 27: 2007: An open letter to the people of Alabama, written by Don Siegelman, from prison,, is released to the press.
  • August 9, 2007: Siegelman files a motion with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, for release pending appeal.
  • July 16, 2007: 44 former Attorney Generals sent a letter to
  • July 18, 2007: Acting US Attorney Louis Franklin release the first of several post-trial press releases the Middle District of Alabama or the prosecutors who tried the case.
  • July 13, 2007: 44 former Attorneys General sent a letter to the Senate judiciary committee, urging them to probe the Siegelman investigation and trial.
  • July and August, 2007: Emergency Motions are filed by Scrushy and Siegelman to bond out of prison, to remain free while their convictions are being appealed.
     
  • June 26, 2007: Scrushy and Siegelman are sentenced, and are taken to the Federal Penitentiary, in Atlanta.
